He said in the inaugural address "Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath." Since Grover Cleveland held the position in two non-sequential terms, he was both the 22nd and 24th President, meaning 43 Americans have now taken the Presidential oath. Am I missing something?
I am not trying to bring down Obama, or imply anything about his knowledge of history. I like Obama, but some of you Obama nuts think he can do no wrong. I was simply trying to make sre I have my facts strait – I for one enjoy knowing about my country and have a genuine interest in history and politics.
You are correct. This is an error. The Post blames this on a 27-year-old speechwriter; heck, I’m just under 20 and I learned this when I was a kid. (Could never decide whether to put the Cleveland flashcard before or after Harrison’s!)
