IMA Conclave 2009 Day 1 Inaugural Session Part 1
Duration : 0:10:1
The hotel tower is topped by a four-faced clock, visible from more than 25 kilometres (16 miles), which is billed by Saudi Arabia as the largest clock in the world. The clock will dwarf London’s Westminster Clock, once the largest four-faced clock in the world, as well as the current title holder, the Allen-Bradley Clock Tower in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The dials are more than five times greater in area. The clock’s dials are also bigger than the current world champion at the Cevahir Mall clock in Istanbul, which has a 36 metres (118 feet) face with 3 metres (9.8 feet) high digits set in the transparent roof of the shopping complex.
Each of the clock’s four faces are 46 metres (151 feet) in diameter and will be illuminated by 2 million LED lights, along with huge Arabic script reading: “Allah is the Greatest”. Another 21,000 white and green colored lights, fitted at the top of the clock, will flash to signal Islam’s five-times daily prayers as far as 29 kilometres (18 miles). On special occasions, 16 bands of vertical lights will shoot some 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) up into the sky. The clock’s four faces will be covered with 98 million pieces of glass mosaics. The Saudi coat of arms is displayed at the center of each clock behind the dials.
An observatory deck is planned at the base of the clock. Elevators will take visitors up to a huge viewing balcony just underneath the faces.
[edit]The Crescent
The Spire and Crescent of Makkah Clock Tower.
The Makkah Clock Tower is topped by a 93 m tall spire and a crescent. The spire will contain a lunar galley, a control tower and an observation pod.[6] Over the spire is the world’s largest golden minaret including the 23 m tall golden crescent.
The crescent was constructed in Dubai by Premier Composite Technology in April 2011. The crescent is made of fiberglass-backed mosaic gold, and it weighs up to 35 tons. Peugeot Joseph, the company official, said a team of five engineers and a hundred workers carried out the project, which cost 90 million dirhams, and it took three months to build it. The company has also constructed the Makkah Clock. The Crescent was divided into 10 parts to move it to Makkah.[7] The crescent was partly-assembled on the base of the clock-face to reduce it to 5 parts. Those five parts were then lifted and installed above the spire from 20 June to 6 July 2011.
The minaret and its base have been beefed up by massive loudspeakers that will emit prayers call to a distance of seven km while nearly 21,000 lamps will illuminate the surrounding area to a distance of 30 km. During occasions like Muslim Eids and new Hijri years, a 16-beam light will illuminate an area of a diameter of around 10 km while 21,000 lamps will beam white and green lights to a distance of 30 km. The light beams are intended to allow deaf persons or Muslims in far areas to know prayer timings in the western town of Makkah and nearby cities.[8]
[edit]The Observation Deck
Just above the clock, comes the observation deck of the Clock Tower. This deck will include a high-tech telescope used to observe the moon in Ramadan. It will also include a room for sightseeing.

I was told that the snow fell heavy the night before the inauguration. The thought of canceling the speech was out of the question. My family and I huddled around the radio to listen to “The inaugural address of President John F. Kennedy”. It was was Friday, January 20, 1961.
He begins “…
We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.”
As he continued to speak, I felt the grip of my father’s hand and I heard to my mother praying over and over again, ”Lord Bless Mr. Kennedy he is a good soul”. Then I felt the tears on my shoulder from my mother as President Kennedy began to said ”
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.
My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”
You may begin to wonder what President and genealogy has in common. This article is not about President Kennedy although he made a major impression my life. It is not about money, which I believe there is never enough.
This article is about time. Something we can always find when we need it. This is about you taking time out of their busy schedule to do something nice for someone. President Kennedy closes,
“ Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.”
Have you given time to your family, friends or someone you know that is most deserving? Have you offered to do something for no charge and really meant it from the bottom of your heart. Have you given someone a chance who otherwise would not have had one?
Have you denied the time to give back to someone or somewhere that gave to you? Did you do some selective forgetting? Did you finally find a reason not to pay back someone who you truly owed nothing but a simple thank-you?
Remember you have to realize how you treat stranger. They may be an angel unaware.
Have you taken time to help someone who may want something as simple as a family tree started? Have you taken time to share information you may know they do not know? Have you taken time to learn about your family? Have you taken time to just listen?
Take time. Take time to start There are so many options.
1. Start one in your church
2. Start one in a rehab center
3. Start one at a senior citizen home
4. Start one as a family project
5. Start taking time showing you care.
Actions speak louder than words. I have finally practiced what President Kenney was preaching. I developed and have made available for the public to use free with free advertisement a site for building ones ancestry. There is unlimited free usage of family tree building, free search engines, chat room we will also have a site that provides a section for people to shop for free. It does not limit the user to only use this site. Our philosophy is the more the merrier.
What do I mean by shopping free? Genealogist, genealogical business, companies, agencies, association will be allowed to advertised there services free.
1. Free for the user
2. Free for the advertiser
3. Free from traffic monitoring to each site
4. Free where genealogydomain.com wants no revenue. The financial agreements will be between service provider the person requesting the use of their services.
The only requirement for those interested in free advertisement is that they give some time to help someone, organization or agency to start their genealogy. Since our kick-off state is Iowa, time or service has to be done or given here in Iowa or some type of Iowa connection.
Businesses, companies, agencies, organizations, groups can join in and enjoy free advertisements as well. Set-up an account and have your members, clients, employees join the site. We will give out group usernames and passwords. The responsibilities rely on you to hand out the usernames and passwords. We will send you the requirements if interested.
You may ask, what are we getting out of this? The answer is very simple. Nothing but the enjoyment of sharing the adventure of learning and sharing our ancestry. Last but not least, giving time.
Are willing to participate? Are you willing to work with me and other volunteers letting the world to know that with giving time there is no hill to climb. No one is asking for anyone to complete a family tree. Most know that that is a never ending story.
We will work together and decide on the family or site. This will assure no duplications as well as knowing that the service was professional. There will be no waste of time then.
Our time together is worth the time. We together can say that we did not ask what anyone has done for us but we can tell what we have done for others and history.
