“Simple Gifts” – Inauguration Day

My friend Mark Wood, a great trumpet player AND a great photographer asked me to create a video montage using images he took on Inauguration Day 2009. I chose the Frank Ticheli arrangement of “Simple Gifts” as the music. The United States Army Ceremonial Band recorded this particular performance. I used Mark’s photos, as well as others, to tell the story of that day. I built the story line around the music and incorporated excerpts of President Obama’s speech that I felt spoke to the hopes of all of us that day. The video became part of a multi-media live performance by The United States Army Ceremonial Band.

Herman Cain is the New Sarah Palin. Critical to today’s discussion of Presidential Politics Policy and Herman Cain, Dr. Jeffries decodes the Conservative Tea Party Phenomenon. The Tea Party is rooted this nation’s founding fathers masquerading as Native Americans and in Black Face in Boston Harbor as they dumped Tea in protest for King James Policies. The “Sons of Liberty” as they were called tarnished their noble cause by not standing up as men as the signors of the Declaration of Independence but hid behind the disenfranchised. Dr. Jeffries implies that the current Tea Party has made the same unfortunate mistake.

10 weeks from next Tuesday is Inauguration Day, January 20th 2009. I think that it would be fitting if there were a gathering in the same place, at the same time.

If anyone who is involved with the ringing of the “change bell ringing” in Gerberding Hall, you might mark your calender?

Washington D.C.’s subway system – called Metro – was pressed to the limit on Inauguration Day. Riders began streaming into the system eight hours before Barack Obama was sworn in as America’s 44th president, and subway stations close to the Capitol were near paralysis. After the inauguration, Metro was overwhelmed again as the huge crowds sought to leave the National Mall.

There were many many times during the making of this video that I was just choked up to see all these people stand up and say what they believe in.

Thank you everyone for your comments! But we have to remember that there are still sooooo many people out there that haven’t heard the message. We have to do more, coz it’s still not enough, its NOT nearly ENOUGH, until each and everyone you meet on the streets hears his integrity and his message of freedom and liberty. Then and only then will ALL of America rise up and fight to be free again.
